Week 6 - Sell our breakfast!

Technology Update
This week we have been working on our groups presentation to show to our two cooking teachers by week six! We have also been working hard to get our food order forms complete, and working out the costings for our food. Our goals for next week are to go see Mr Fraser with the prices for our foods, then get our order forms out ready for week six!

Kickstarters Smoothies
This week I was with Sheree and Hannah and we made a mixed berry smoothie!! I think that our smoothie was great but needed to be cooled and needed to be a little lees sweet. To make these changes we are going to have to maybe add some just juice, and take out the kiwi fruit because that's what made it really tangy. Overall, I enjoyed the smoothie!

Technology in cooking class with Mrs Van-Lauren
Over the past couple of weeks, my group the Kickstarters have been trialing foods to put on our breakfast menu. We have finished trialing all our foods and are now up to working out the costing, which is taking us quite a while. By week five we have to have some presentation to show our cooking teacher and Mrs Harris, so at the moment we are aiming to finishing working out the costings, and get our order forms out! Our main goal is to have all the costings done to show Mr Fraser by week 4, so we have a lot of work to do before then!

Technology in cooking class with Mrs Van-Lauren
Today we cooked omelets with cheese, bacon, mixed herbs and broccoli. Our cooking was a succession but we do have a lot to improve on for next week like, Finding out weather we would like to add herbs and broccoli, or weather to just have cheese, bacon plus some other fillings that we have yet to experiment on. I think that we have improved on flipping them neatly this week, but now we just need to think about what our customers want as their fillings, and what goes well with the omelets. I don't think our product is quite ready to go on sale to the rest of the school, well not until we have thought about the fillings.

Impact with Mrs Van-Lauren 13/06/2013
Over the past two weeks I have been in the cooking class with Mrs V and the rest of my group. We have been trialing pancakes and seeing what we can add to them instead of sugar. We trialed grated apple, mashed berries, Peaches on top and banana on top. I enjoyed making them because I got to taste a whole lot of different flavors with pancakes. I liked the mixed berries mashed up in the mixture of the pancakes the most. Next week we are making a plain omelet,so I can't wait to experiment with that!

18/04/2013 chat with Mrs Van-Lauren
Today Mrs Van-Lauren came down to our school to help my group with our food group ideas. She talked to us about some possibility of what we could do, and she also gave us some hints and other exiting help with our project. Mrs Van-Lauren looked at our servery with us then told us to challenge ourselves, and try to include cooking into our meal. She told us that something that could develop our skills would be good, so muffins, omelets ect. would test our skills. Mrs Van-Lauren was a great help to our group!

Week 1 & 2 in Medal with Mr Chivers
Over theses two weeks we have been making a medal hook that hooks onto the top of your door made out of stainless steal. It was really hard to bend and cut, but the end product was really good. It is meant to slip onto the top of your door so you can hang your coats, or towels on it, and your door should still be able to close normally. I enjoyed making my hook because I have never worked with stainless steal, and  I really needed one to hang my beach towel on.

Week 10 & 11 in Wood work with Mr Davies
Over the past  two weeks I've been with Mr Davies learning about the wood work room and all the different things that you can make/create in that class. In the first week we asked Mr Davies if he could show us how a machine works and we ended up using the whole lesson to make a rounders bat. On the second week we just learnt more about the workshop so now if we like that Technology we can choose to go to that class when we have the chance.
Heres a picture of a rounders bat:

Week 6 & 7 in Food/Cooking with Mrs Van-Lauren
This week I've been in cooking and I would be in cooking next week except I'm going to camp. Today we made an Italian dish, Italian tomato sauce pasta. I was pasta sticks, with tomato sauce and carrots. I was trying to eat it all but it was way too filling. It tasted so so good! I ate too much so I didn't end up having any lunch! Heres a little picture of what our pasta looked like, but slightly different. In the second week we made English muffins with a nice cooling berry smoothie.

Week 4 & 5 in Fabrics with Mrs Mcawmac
I've been in Fabrics dealing with sowing machines for two weeks now and its awesome! Since we only had two weeks we only got to make one thing. We made little mini pillows/Juggling balls/Pin cushions. You are aloud to choose two fabrics and then you sow them together with a twist and stuffing! Your also aloud to choose weather you wanted to sow it as a triangle or a square, I choose a triangle so it's different. We are tough a lot of skills about sowing and shown how to pin, and use a machine correctly. I enjoyed it because you get to take something home and show your creation to others, also you can give one or two away like I gave on to my Grandma so she could use it as a pin cushion. It's a fun experience!

Week 2 & 3 in Digital Design with Mr O'Neill
Over the past two weeks I have been in Digital Design were you make at least four short films. Your tough how to use a high quality camera to film, and also tough how to shoot something or someone from different angles. I was in a group with two other girls and two other boys, we had to make a film with one or more actors. In one film I was acting as a bully in the Libray. And after you have got all the shots, you go onto a computer and edit your movie so it flows. Also you can add a sound track in the background so it sounds professorial  Movie making has never fancied me but now I'll create a short film anytime!
