Writing 2013

Reverse Recount (2013 My Year)
Well where do we start?? First there was calf club, then the year eight dinner oh and I couldn't miss Rainbows end! I participated in the Ngatea Primary School calf club, with a lamb that I thought would go nowhere, but that lamb proved me wrong! I was leading her out of most rings with bright ribbons tied around her belly! After a long but successful fight to the finish line, it was prize giving and I lost count after four times of being called up for trophies! Jaffi never let me down, and must have gave every judge a wink, for me to come out with firsts!

Anyway months later there was a Year eight formal dinner where each year eight student gets dressed up and invites their parents, grandparents and any close extended family-(No younger siblings!) I invited my parents, grandparents and older siblings. Also each year eight has to create a video and the video is based on what they want to do when they are older. My video was me acting as a teacher, because I want to be a teacher when I’m older. I held my fists tight, as open eyes sparkled at my video. I was hoping that everyone would like my teaching attitude, But that was the least of my worries because before I knew it I was at the top of the fear fall with fear haunting my mind, What if the fear fall broke on the way down? And what if it doesn't stop, and hits the ground...? I closed my eyes preparing myself for the long drop. As it dropped my stomach rolled and my eyes held themselves shut, But before I could let a scream out I was back on planet earth Thankful to be alive and begging to go again! I my leg shook as I look a steep off the fear fall, But now here I am with the biggest smile on my face, I’ve achieved everything that I had set myself, every ride at Rainbows end, getting through year eight and even firsts at calf club!! 2013 Truly was my year.

I'm coming home!
As the graceful but strong turtles soar silently through the air, they leave a thin trail of parted air behind them. They mutter a soft message to each other, but the mutter soon becomes a roar across the whole of the sky, making it sound like the sky was falling. A sudden shiver runs down a turtle's back as he feels the bottom of someone's shoes dancing on his shell. Then he feels a soft voice whisper in his ear ‘This way boy, to the city.’ He stopped furiously and then another whisper entered his ear, ‘C’mon to the city!’ said the excited voice. The turtle began to move slowly towards the pack again as they called him on.

There was a strange man on his back, a man that was desperate to see his family, and in need of food urgently. He talked to the turtle with kind words and promised him it wouldn’t be long before he was gone. The turtle had a plain reply as nothing and carried on snorting his way to the finish line. The man soon pulled a piece of scrap paper out of his back pocket and started to scrape bird poop off the back of the turtles shell. With the bird poop he wrote a message to his family..
Dear Anna my lovely wife, Kiran, Jamie and Emily my lovely children.I am in the middle of know where at the moment, flying on the back of a turtle. Please let it be known that I’m trying to guide myself home but this pack of turtles are heading south. My trip ended up a disaster after I forgot to take the leftover petrol. Hope to see you all sooner than later and please do send some help, John/Dad xxxx
An uncontrollable wind swoops in and carries the letter away down towards earth as a touching tear rolled down his cheek.

Finally after two week's of traveling nowhere John was able to touch his family and eat some real food. He was back on land and was happy to have no boat to remind him of the horrible tragedy that had happened all because of a forgetful mind.

Waihi Beach writing
As I pull my foot forward to take another steep, the smooth sheet of glass I walk upon is soon washed away by the tide.
I feel the soft touch of another load of sand dumping out onto the beach, and I see more shells rapidly pushed into shore. I take a deep breathe in, and the salty air rushes up my nose. Suddenly another wave crashed onto the beach, and starts frothing up around my ankles, like a hot chocolate, but cold. I give a little shiver, then look up to see a small sandstorm heading my way. A seagull swept down above my head as if it was asking for something, but I was too busy experiencing the light sprinkle of sand dancing all over my feet. My toes rubbed together making it harder to walk in my jandals, so I bent down and removed my jandals from my feet and kept walking. The sun soon started to rise, and I wasn't the only one on the beach any more. I had dogs, and people running past me, so I turned to walk back to the batch. Step by step I stood on chewed up shells, and grinned a hello to every person that went by. I was soon at the end of my journey, and left the beach with a cheerful smile.
